We try to stay up-to-date on what is going on in every aspect of the photography industry. You might remember that in January we attended the Senior Photographers International convention where Bruce received Senior Photographer of the Year. This past weekend we attended Professional Photographer’s of Ohio to listen to seminars on children, families and wedding portraits. This coming weekend we will be attending Professional Photographer’s of Michigan. We learn so much and come back with some great ideas and sometimes even new backgrounds or props. We sit in on seminars so that we can offer our clients the best quality portraits and portrait experience that they can possibly have. A big topic of conversation at every convention has been why people aren’t hiring professionals. I did some digging and found an article in The Knot magazine about hiring a family member or friend vs. a professional to photograph your portraits and thought that it would be worth posting the link.
We’ve had several brides come to us within the past year in hopes that we can salvage their wedding portraits that were taken by someone else. Of course we do what we can, but sometimes there is not enough to work with. It breaks our heart to have to tell a bride that there isn’t much that we can do. You can’t do retakes on a wedding. We’ve also received phone calls from parents that took their child elsewhere for their senior portraits, but they didn’t quite turn out. Let a professional capture those important milestones in your life.
